The bombings in Iraq are continuing as 15 people were killed and 25 were injured by the latest of the bombings.
The Interior Ministry have supplied information that the latest bombings were down to a suicide bomber on a motorbike, who detonated his explosives in a Baghdad market place. This bombing was the eighth in two days since American troops prepare to withdraw from Iraq. The motorbike had been loaded with nails and ball-bearings for maximum impact. This wave of violence that has left more than 200 people dead this week calls into question the ability of the Iraqi security forces, and whether it is strong enough to deal with the violence without its American counter-part. Although nobody has claimed responsibility for the attack, it is believed that insurgents regularly target crowded market place areas in order to maximise casualties. The attacks in Iraq have continued on an almost daily basis, with casualties rising with each bombing. Both the US and Iraqi officials have warned that they expect there to be more violence surrounding the days of the American withdrawal, but do not plan to postpone it in any way.
