An Iranian news agency has given information regarding a series of raids by the Iranian police in Tehran that took place on Monday night. The police arrested people believed to have been involved with organizing and carrying out illegal protests and riots.
The raided building was in Haft-e Tir square, and was where police had controlled a crowd protesting against the official results of the disputed June 12th elections. The news agency also mentioned that this building was where activities in favour of a particular candidate took place, although the candidate's name was not mentioned. Among the activities that took place were "illegal gatherings, encouraging people to riot, and acting against the country's security". The people that were arrested were also accused of possessing criminal documents involving the media and foreign interference. These people have now been held for interrogation. Former Prime Minister Mousavi strongly believes the elections were rigged. The Revolutionary Guards, a force that stand completely loyal to the Islamic Republic, yesterday threatened to "crush" any further unrest. There has been at least 17 people killed in post-election violence, although state media blame it on "terrorists".
